I happen to love heat, but live in Maryland where temperature has been known to express itself in a variable manner from one season to the next. About ten to fifteen (15) years back I purchased a down coat (or at least the label said it was down) and was very dissatisfied with it. It did not live up to the hype with regard to protection against cold weather. My solemn vow at the time was to never waste any money on down outerwear of any kind again. A couple of winters ago, however, I had the occasion on a family visit to sleep under a goose down comforter. I was awakened numerous times during the night by dreams of being boiled at the stake and drenched in perspiration.
